Hello from your friendly neighborhood inn-keepers! 👋
Most breakfasts we like to sit with our guests and get to know them and their stories while sharing our own. Our Inn-Keeper and Inn-house Historian, Charlie, will make sure you are an expert of all things Gable-House-History by the time you depart 😉
A brief history of our involvement, summarized from our website, durangobedandbreakfast.com:
The Gable House, a historic Queen Anne Victorian located at 805 Fifth Avenue in Durango, was built in 1892 by James and Eliza Schutt. Initially a private residence, it later served as a hospital under Dr. B.J. Ochsner from 1913 to 1937, and eventually became the county's first public hospital. In 1970, it was purchased by Jeffrey and Heather Bryson, who established it as a Bed and Breakfast, gaining recognition for its architectural significance.
Tracie Trotter and Charles Goodman acquired the Gable House Bed and Breakfast from the Brysons, continuing its legacy of hospitality with a focus on sustainability and community support. They emphasize local partnerships and eco-friendly practices while welcoming guests to this cherished Durango landmark.
